This time, in the Union General Budget presented on February 1, Rs 8,060 crore has been allocated to Northeast Frontier Railways. While this allocation is about one and a half crore rupees more than the amount of Rs 6,549 crore allocated in the budget last year, it is 238% more than the amount allocated for NF Railways in the budget from 2009 to 2014.

Addressing virtual reporters at NF Railway Headquarters Maligaon on Saturday, he said that this amount has been made in view of the stated goals of connecting the capital of all the states of Northeast India with the railways by the year 2023. He said NF railway all section rail network is being expanded and rail lines are being doubled.
The work of electrification is going on at a fast pace. He said that till now electrification of 451 Route Kilometre (RKM) line under NF Railway has been completed, while work of 770 RKM will be completed by August this year. In addition, a target has been set to complete 2962 RKM electrification work by March 2024. He said that full attention is being paid to the safety of railway passengers. GM said that during the Corona period the railways achieved considerable success in supplying goods, especially food. He informed that from April 2020 to January 2021, 9361 freight rakes were unloaded under NF Railway.
